Hop's Chicken

July 12, 2018

Hop's Chicken is a true Atlanta GEM. It's located in The Ponce City Market on the bottom floor (Just before William Sonoma!) I've walked past this place so many times but never stopped to investigate. I will say that they are consistent. Consistently BUSY! And now I understand why!

After walking around for a few hours we decided to try Hop's. We didn't honestly have a taste for anything in particular and this seemed safe! It's very easy to get overwhelmed at Ponce with all the smells and restaurants.

What I ordered:
  • A waffle
  • Lemonade
  • 1/2 a chicken (came with 2 biscuits)
We waited a solid 20-25 minutes before getting our food. Everything was coming out fresh! The line was moving which is always nice! Menus were being passed around so you had time to think of your order by the time you got to the head of the line.

If you're going with another person or a group I recommend finding somewhere to sit first. Seats are scarce, especially on the weekend!

A closer look at the sides and sauces.

Get the Frim Fram sauce! It's like Zaxby's or Cane's sauce! More like Cane's sauce really. I wasn't a fan of the bbq sauce. I really only like honey bbq or original bbq sauce. It was a little too tangy for me.

The lemonade was a little grainy like it was made from a powder. Next time I'll just opt for water!

Other menu options! I told my best friend, Tunya, that next time I'm just going to order the parts of chicken I like (2 Drumsticks and 1 breast). It comes out cheaper and I know I'm getting what I want.

The full spread.

The waffle was soggy. It's really just habit to order chicken and waffles at this point. I'm on a quest to find the best chicken and waffles in the country.
#GottaCatchEmAll or should I say #GottaTasteEmAll

The biscuits were HARD and dry! I definitely wish I would have tried the mac and cheese instead. As soon as I ordered the waffle I regretted it.

Overall, I'm coming back. I'm ordering extra for a second meal as well. The wait was worth it!
Not even exaggerating, this is THE BEST fried chicken I've ever had! The chicken was seasoned to perfection and the right amount of crispy. I even ate some of the skin!
I only wish they had more vegetable options. (It makes me feel less guilty when I eat really greasy + fattening food.)
