Nursing School: Week 7

October 8, 2018

  • It's officially October. If I can survive this month, I can survive anything. This month is what is going to separate the weenies from the OGs.

  • Remembering all the steps for a physical exam + health assessment from head to toe makes my brain throb, honestly.
  • I tried out small group tutoring this week, just to get some supplemental study techniques. I'm still on the fence about it. I guess we'll see after this next exam. Luckily we have the same professors for the duration of the program. So once you learn how they write their tests + the way they think + their rationales, you're set.
  • I've officially outgrown naps. They're a delicacy at this point.
  • 2 more skills validations left for this semester! Hospital clinicals start in 2 weeks!
  • Cooking in peace and quiet is so therapeutic.

  • When your friends + classmates invite you to a "twerk fitness" class but God has other plans because you're a well mannered wholesome Catholic girl: a short story by yours truly. About 6 months ago I noticed my Macbook charger cord was fraying. I did what any sensible person would do: I bought a $20 apple charger knock off on Amazon and never used it. Fast forward to today when I'm completing a med math dosage module + trying to take care of a good amount of school work before I partake in the aforementioned fitness function. In the middle of doing the module, my laptop notifies me it is at 5% and quickly drops to 3%.  I go to plug in my charger and the little green light doesn't come on. The fitness class starts in 1 hour. Best Buy is 20 minutes away. My knock-off new charger is at my parent's house 1+ hour away. No twerk fitness for Nkenna...this week. Why are Apple products so expensive?  I will say, I'm really happy this didn't happen on Monday during my exam.

  • For the first time since I was 16, I am voluntarily unemployed. Let's see how long I last before I get restless.
  • I watched a movie on Netflix and it was fantastic. The whole experience. The movie was predictable but I just liked being useless and laying in bed. It was nice.
  • People keep reminding us at school that we need to take time for "Self care". That's valueable study time. So in an effort to be cooperative + compromise, I planned ahead for some muuuch needed "self care" time. With that being said:
